Thanks Juliet. Hard to say for sure. I got my introduction to Eastern philosophy from Alan Watts, coincidentally, 36 years ago while visiting my mother on her surviving death bed. Still my judgement of Buddha stems from raising two daughters in a sick society, coming back to their needs day after day, and not running away:)

Love your perspective on the Buddha. He WAS a selfish manchild, or at least I got that impression from reading Herman Hesse's "Siddhartha"
