Saving Stuckism: A to Zed
The trailer to my first full length documentary
Well, I had no idea making a movie was so involved, and you can see by Edgeworth’s and my expression that we’re a bit unnerved by the future unknown public reception. Will they adore or abhor? Edgeworth hasn’t seen it yet, even though he’s provided a significant bulk of the content. The story is complete, the clips are in. I have been editing audio and working with Rose on design tweaks and color correction. Her guidance and expertise has made an entertaining concept and choppy timeline construction into an epic two hour film. This might be state of the art in full length Stuckist documentaries. I’ll go one better. Why not the best art movie of 2025?
Today is the official trailer release. Watch with relish.
To remind readers…
In April I traveled to Muswell Hill (North London) to work and commune with other Stuckist artists, particularly Edgeworth Johnstone. The movie relates the experience while addressing several themes on art and anti-artifice. It certainly breathes new life into Stuckism. It didn’t take much. Stuckists getting together to do Stuckism. This trailer and its movie was created with Final Cut Pro on a free trial basis. It is 99.9% hand, camera, and single video editing software created. That means zero A.I., stock photography, 3rd party images or video clips. I downloaded two images to help tell the story of Muswell Hill serial killer Dennis Nilsen, and used one brief audio clip supplied by Final Cut Pro. Otherwise, the entire music soundtrack consists of songs written and performed by the Farangers, Edgeworth Band and yours truly.
I received a $400 stipend from CNYArts to help me along, though that generosity has not covered even half the cost of the 7 TB of storage needed to run the free software. To date, I have over 400 labor hours into the project, $2,000 in travel, and a double opium pipe dream that the effort will ever break even.
Stuckism!
I cannot properly relate how immersive and rewarding this time has been. I wake each morning to spend the day in work and obsession.
The movie will be screened at SUNY Oswego and Black Ivory in September. Please come out and watch with us. We’ll supply the popcorn. You give us the applause.
Now before you watch the trailer, read over some earlier titles I came up with on a May bus ride across town:
